got black screen while doing game recording,possible resolve?

Hey guys.

I don't own capture card.

I wanted to screen record gameplay on my old R9 390 card but all I got was black screen in saved video file capture.

I used AMD Relive software to capture, and Hypercam both giving me black screen immediately when any game starts.

What could I do?How to resolve this?

Use a different program and see if it persists.

Recommended by me, try OBS cause it has "game capture".

Yeah try camtasia. I haven't used them in many years but all you can do is try i suppose.

What exactly were you trying to screen capture? A video stream or a game? If you want to record Netflix, you will need to use your browser, not the app.
If it's a game... Did you set the right video source?

OBS is not complicated in the least. Just change the Window in the Source. Change your audio source as well if needed.

SLOBS (Streamlabs OBS) is a bit more streamlined if you wanna try that, it's free as well. Your issue is most likely just Relive, even with my Radeon VII it just recorded a blank black or green screen.

It records my desktop but not the game.

That's why you change the Window it records, number 2 on my screenshot that I posted before. The source, by default, records the desktop or some other random crap. Change the window that it records. The software doesn't know that you want to record a game, you need to tell it where it is by selecting it in the software.

Dude,there is no such option in sofware I used...it should record screen no matter if its game,porn,desktop,netflix whatever...

Yes, OBS... I replied to you saying it was too complicated and it seems like you didn't even understand that, so now I get why you would think OBS is complicated.
 

 

If you have it enabled, disable the Record Desktop option in AMD Relive. That's only for the desktop and some OpenGL apps in windowed mode thus it wouldn't show your games in fullscreen.

 

OBS is a proper recording software made with actual thoughts put behind it. Relive is basically AMD's answer to Nvidia shadowplay and is not as good when it comes to actually record what you want, where you want, how you want.

If you use software intended for game recording, then they only record software they recognize as games. In OBS you could assign hotkey to point which software you want to record. Or which window. Same might work on other software.

 

If you want to absolute recording on desktop, then you select monitor capture (or something similar). Then everything on monitor will be recorded, not just selected windows or software.

I've used Radeon Relive Software.

I assume it is okay for capturing games.

Does OBS have option to capture with different codecs?

No, only x264. I don't have Relive to check settings with.

Yes I did manage to record gameplay on my second rig using OBS.

Thank you guys.

However I had to switch to software renderer,because with Hardware/NVENC all I got was black screen.

Is that normal?

On that rig is 2080 Super.

I got OBS to work while gaming and it did capture, but didn't capture OSD screen and  values from GPU Tweak II and I need that too.

How can I resolve that?

I captured at rez I was playing which is 1440p.

If you are using Game Capture, it will only capture one window, nothing more. If you want to capture everything in one monitor, better to use Monitor Capture. Otherwise you need to add another Game Capture for OSD.
