Gpu Utilization 100% but Dedicated GPU Memory uses Less than 1GB while gaming

Hi all,

 

Lately I have been noticing my FPS drop from 200 to an atrociously terrible 28 fps.

I normally run Team Fortress 2 (because I'm too broke to get other games ;-;)  on my Alienware M14XR2. So I opened my task manager and ensured my game's priority was set to high and closed off any unwanted processes. 

I Have already checked my temperatures (69 degrees Celsius) and have cleaned my laptop's vents. 

While i was looking at task manager, I noticed the dedicated gpu memory and the shared gpu memory barely even being used at all. (Before i believe i was using at least 1GB of my GPU's memory.)

And this doesn't just go for TF2. It went for EVERY game.

I hope I can get my fps back up again.

MY SPECS;

  • Intel core i7 3720QM @2.6Ghz (set to 3.6GHz most of the times)
  • Nvidia Geforce GT 650M 2GB 
  • 16GB DDR3 1666MHz RAM
  • PLEXTO PX-128M5M (My 100GB SSD)
  • ST1000LM 4 (My 1TB SHDD)

It happens the same to me, the shared and dedicated GPU memory have a ridiculous amount of allocated memory.

Try rebooting?

 

Otherwise, DDU and reinstall your GPU drivers.
