Help with dual monitors

So I have 2 monitors, one is connected via HDMI and looks great however the other monitor is connected thru a DVI to VGA cable and looks a lot more blurry then the other monitor. They both are the same refresh rate, so I have no idea what to do.

Refresh rate doesn't mean they're the same penal or quality or resolution.  Can you tell us the model of each monitor?

 

It may be the VGA part, since it's analog.  You're converting digital to analog via that second cable.

 

Get a DVI to HDMI adapter instead, could be the fix.  Tell us monitors first.

Analogue signals are worse quality than digital ones. 

 

With LCD monitors you also want to match the resolution to the one native for the panel ... for example, if the monitor's native resolution is 1680x1050, then use that exact resolution, otherwise the LCD monitor will scale the image and it can get a bit blurry or distorted.

Keep the refresh rate to 60Hz if you're using VGA cables, even if the monitor says it supports up to 75 Hz or whatever. On a lot of cheap monitors, yes, the monitor accepts 75 Hz and receives 75 frames per second, but will only update the LCD panel up to 60 times a second. 

With VGA, the chip inside the monitor has to support a wide range of input refresh rates  for example at minimum 48 .. 75 Hz  because some video cards and some devices don't output exactly 60 Hz ... but the chip takes more than 60 and just throws out the ones over 60 ... or takes less than 60 and duplicates frames to make 60 updates a second. 

 

The higher the refresh rate, the more data goes through the cable, and if the cable is poor quality, the signals going through the cable can be influenced / affected by electric noise produced by things around the cable (the processor, the video card itself, the power supply) so you're not doing yourself a service if you use more than 60 Hz as refresh rate.
