Not worth imo. You should buy new/used external USB DVD drive instead.

I believe its a kind of IDE connector although it also looks damaged to me as the top should be as straight as the bottom.

It is a type of IDE connection for optical drives only, though it is not damaged. Every single connection I've seen like that was slightly trapezoidal-shaped.

I do not know of any adapters, though, can you show me where they are? I'd like to get some use out of mine.

That's not it...

The connector is kinda like a SATA plug where there are pins lining the edges on the female end, not like a PCIe power plug where the pins stick through the middle.

JAE connector apparently, but I still think its slightly damaged on that drive.  Maybe not so much it would impair it functioning, hard to say.

Grab a slim ATAPI to USB 2.0 B adapter along with any USB 2.0 A to B cable.

Seeing the cost of all these things...

It's not even worth it for a disc drive.

No matter what it is they want to do with it, an external disc drive is cheaper.

Indeed, even USB Bluray drives are relatively cheap, DVD practically peanuts.

The thing to watch out for are the ones with a fixed single USB cable, they are prone to breaking and often don't work on a USB 2 port due to insufficient power.
