Mining stopping maybe

So on techlinked, I heard that ethereum mining is dying down because of something the developers are doing, is this true, and if so, can I get my hands on an rtx 3060 ti for msrp?

thanks

ethereum is not the only crypto currency that gets mined. if ethereum does drop GPU powered mining, miners will be to another coin.

Supposedly Eth is transitioning to Proof-of-Stake instead of Proof-of-Work, which would remove the need for mining. But it's not the only cryptocurrency out there nor are cryptocurrencies the only reason for the silicon shortage. So only time will tell what effect on availability it'll have.

If those changes go in effect, it will be in 2022 at the soonest. Don't expect a 3060 Ti for MSRP easily gotten any time soon.

Of course it is possible, but miners probably still want those cards, because even in other cryptos they are still profitable.

And other than miners, there are still a lot of consumers and scalpers buying the cards too.

It's still poop, I own one lol

The limitation sucks, even without the limitations, I prefer having a 3080, failing that, a 3060ti or 3070

It's not bad. Especially in the current market. Even at scalped pricing they aren't bad.
