ECC is now cheaper and has better timings!

Maybe I'm just misreading or misunderstanding what I'm seeing on the spec sheets.

And this might be due to the global TMSC shortage, hopefully ECC continues to get cheaper.

Since I have an Zen3 CPU that supports ECC memory I was pricing out filling my motherboard with 128gb of RAM.

And I keep finding that using ECC memory is cheaper and is faster than what my local Microcenter provides.

For example:

$352 -- Crucial Ballistix 64GB Kit DDR4-3200 (BL2K32G32C16U4B) 16-18-18-36

$230 -- Samsung 2x32GB DDR4-2133 ECC (M393A4K40BB0) 15-15-15

The lower timings don't make the memory faster, if it's 3200Mhz vs. 2133Mhz.

3200Mhz CL16: 10ns true latency

2133Mhz CL15: 15ns true latency

(lower = better)

Ah I see, I have to do some math to factor in the increased clock speed. Only then would I be comparing apples to apples.

Thanks!

Also factor in the error check. That adds latency.
