100% functional Graphics card stops 100% functional system from posting

My system specs are:

ryzen 5 2600x

gigabyte b450m ds3h v2

evga 600w psu

16gb ram

120gb ssd

1tb hdd / 2 tb hdd

5 case fans

gtx 550 ti/ r9 290x/ rx580( previous cards I've used in this system)

so I recently tried to install a gtx 980 ti in my system to replace an r9 290x and upon pressing the power button the system wouldnt post. No OS, no Bios no lights on keyboard and no flicker of the monitor. I placed the card in another system (i5 6402p/msi b150m bazooka/ 16gb ram/ evga 500w psu) and the system posted and installed the drivers no problem. I tried placing back into my ryzen build and...... nothing. I placed in an old gtx 550 ti to try and disable secure boot (didnt work), I updated the bios (didnt work), cleared cmos (didnt work), updated chipset drivers (didnt work) moved ram around (didnt work), installed ddu to remove remnants of previous cards annd still nothing worked. could it be a graphics card incompatibility with the b450 chipset? I've never heard of such a thing like that.

I can't imagine it would be incompatible with the chipset that would be ridiculous .. So are you saying the system acts as if it is dead with that card installed in the slot? That is absolutely absurd if so. Did you try any other PCIE slots that it could fit in? Did you try ensuring all power connectors are snug and secure and that the motherboard is properly installed and grounded [I am sure you did but just nudging you a bit ...] this is a strange issue if the card works in another system.

With that in mind i would swap the power supplies as a next thing and see if it still works. Make sure all wires are snug and secure and also make sure that card is firmly pressed into the PCI-E Slot.

hey thanks for your response. Its a head scratcher right? I was thinking of swapping out the power supply but just unwilling to due to undoing all the cable/ zip ties that I've installed for cable management. But ill go ahead and try that. For those wondering i did swap the boot drives from the intel system with the ryzen system. First i booted using the gtx 550 ti and it showed the motherboard loading screen. I shut it off and installed the gtx 980 ti and still nothing. I tried looking at other forums and ppl say its a bad power supply and for them it fix it. However my 600w has proven to work with other cards and the intel system with 500w was able to post with it, truly a puzzle

I would swap the power supplies 100% and see if that solves the issue.. sometimes these strange and bizarre things happen. Make sure you press the card in tight maybe it isnt locking in right. Tons of little possible things could of leaded to this or that. You know the card works and thats great but maybe the power supply has some issues itself with its wires or the motherboard it just isn't seating in properly.

Ill move the 600w from the ryzen build to the intel one and install the 980 ti on there and update you with the outcome. If it doesnt post its 100% the psu. If it does post I'll be even more confused. i should mention the case fans and gpu fans spin in the ryzen build when turned on. just no signal to monitor or lights on the keyboard

just an update, ive swapped the power supplies. Installed the 500w psu from the intel system into the ryzen system. No post. Same thing, pc fans spin, rgb strip lights up, gpu lights up with fan spin but nothing. Anyways I'll just be using my r9 290x in the meantime and probably just sell the 980 ti since it still functions. Thanks @cookiekittu for the brainstorming. Ill leave this here for anyone who might have a solution other than the ones I've already tried and documentation for any other poor soul that is going through this. You were not alone...

I think it only has 1 revision but in the bottom left corner of the board PCI-E Side to be sure it should say Rev 1.0 Etc is it 1.0?

Here is my next suggestion. Remove power connectors to all storage devices and also remove the sata-connectors, reinstall the 980 Ti and hook it all up and see what happens then.
