How do i test an adapter to see if its good?

thatpc.

I have a MacBook and I usually hook it up to a monitor since the MacBook screen is to small. 2 days ago it stopped displaying video so I unplugged my monitor and restart it checked the HDMI input and everything was fine. Took another laptop and hooked up the cab,e to it and it worked, since Apple too away all the ports I have to use a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and I’m guess it’s the adapter that’s the issue. How would I test the adapter if it’s bad or defective?

By using the adapter on a different computer.

If you're concerned about your monitor, just use that with a different computer that has a proper HDMI output.

What adapter is this?

i used a HP laptop with an actual hdmi port. It works. The adapter is a thunderbolt 3 to HDMI for a macbook.
