Turn off RJ45 Ethernet light

Spudwell06

Is there a way to turn off the light at the back of my PC without disconnecting power.

Even when I shut down it still blinks the orange at me while sleeping

I can turn off the PC (switch on PSU) but that is hard where my PC is

Is there a cable I can disconnect or solder something?

I don't mind mutilating the port as long as it functions

No.

Why so extreme? You might break the NIC altogether.

Think simple: cover up the LEDs with black electrical tape. Done! And guess what?! It’s reversible.

Did you disable any wake on lan stuff in bios?

The network card would remain on if you have options enable to turn on pc using remote signals.

It may be possible to disable the leds by modifying the bios, but it's a bit extreme and outside my knowledge.

You could disconnect power for the leds on the connector, but that requires hardware changes (removing resistors or cutting traces on the motherboard)

You could use some black marker pen, or some black electrical tape to cover the leds.

You can disable Wake on Lan in the BIOS and on the NIC itself as that's what does it for me.
