Problem using enterprise-class HDDs with Asrock X570 motherboard

I have two 12TB HGST Ultrastar DC HC520 HDDs (HUH721212ALE600) from Western Digital that I wish to use temporarily in my desktop PC until I can afford to expand to a multibay NAS system. The motherboard is an Asrock X570 Creator with the latest BIOS update. I am using a 1200W Corsair PSU. The motherboard is unable to see either of the two Ultrastar DC HC520 HDDs. The disks do not appear to be spinning on power up. Any suggestions or recommendations?

are the drives new? if they are you have to format them first.

 

if you reinstalled windows to the drivers, you have to format them

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

( You can overclock Tier C just fine, but it can get very loud, that is why it is not recommended for overclocking, same with tier D)

Either drive does not appear in the motherboard BIOS. The disks do not appear to be spinning on power up. Unless the BIOS ‘recognizes’ the drives I am unable to format. I have seen other users have been able to get their HGST internal hard disk drives to work (more or less) in a desktop PC. I have yet to hear back from Asrock (I would be surprised if I do.)

They do not show in Disk Manager. I was under the impression they would work on any PC but so far no luck with my motherboard.

I believe I've found the source of the problem:

 

SATA revision 3.3

“The new Power Disable feature (similar to the SAS Power Disable feature) uses Pin 3 of the SATA power connector. Some legacy power supplies that provide 3.3 V power on Pin 3 would force drives with Power Disable feature to get stuck in a hard reset condition preventing them from spinning up. The problem can usually be eliminated by using a simple “Molex-to-SATA” power adapter to supply power to these drives.”
