If you're doing streaming and video editing in addition to gaming, I'd say go with Ryzen. I've only looked into the B550/X570 USB issues on a surface level, but it seems to be a situation where you either experience the issue, or you don't. I haven't had any problems with my build, which uses a B550 board.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

I recently rebuilt my system after my X99 motherboard died. I put a thread up here a few days ago.

I was trying to get a Ryzen 5 5600x but getting one at or near MSRP appeared to be impossible. I happened to luck out and snagged an i9 10850k for $337. I'm liking it so far, and it appears to be easier to get.

Honestly you can't go wrong either way, both are great processors and both will last you several years. Don't overpay, and don't get cold feat pulling the trigger on either. Pick the one you can find the best deal on and snag it ASAP.

B&H had em on sale for $337, the 10700k for IIRC around $250-$260. I had a 10850k in my cart but then NewEgg's stupid lottery came up with a 5600x for $299 so I waited to see if I could get it for MSRP and didn't "win" a chance to buy it at $299.
When I got back to B&H the 10850k was sold out so I was pretty bummed. This was like 5 days ago.
That night Amazon put up their 10850k's for $337.

Far as anyone can figure they're liquidating stock for the 11th gen processors coming out soon(ish) so they can be had for that price. Shop around.

EDIT: Newegg, Walmart and Bestbuy just sold out of their 5600x's at $299, so you'll definitely start seeing a few of those sales going around.

10850k is just better in terms of raw performance, compute experience, smoothness in game, switching between chrome tabs.

All just better compared 5600x in all those expect. Good choice by you not choosing 5600x. 5600x is just Good in benchmark chart 🙂

11700 released already?

Well the thing with Ryzen is your system can support up to 16 cores in the future (up to 5950x), so it's very flexible.

Unlike Intel 11th gen which max out at 8 cores only.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

I'm not broken up over not snagging the 5600k, I am pretty happy with the 10850k.

Not that I'm aware, it's supposed to be pretty soon though.

11700 is on pre order but tech tubers can't benchmark it. If wanted to benchmark it need to wait official release date

Back to the topic, I found my motherboard does support front panel type c. Any other motherboard option (AMD), the aorus pro v2 is not available in my country yet.

Need good rear i/o with lots of USB ports and good power phases etc.

Front USB-C can be connected with USB 3.1 (and up) header, which most if not all Ryzen motherboard has at least one.
