Best Headset for Footsteps?

I currently own an arctis pro (wired)  & a sennheiser hd600 both have failed to give me surround sound audio, I've tried disabling windows enhancements in windows properties settings, I've tried plugging them into different ports, using an amplifier etc like people suggest and it still isn't working & my audio is just flat, I've also tried listening to YouTube videos that test your headphones for 7.1 surround sound and again there is no directional audio on either of the headsets. I'm looking to get a pair that actually works so I can properly hear footsteps etc. I'm currently looking at audeze mobius & hyperx orbit s. I'm just wondering if they are any good, I really don't want to spend any more money until I know for sure if they're going to actually work as intended.

Edit: I fixed it, there's a setting in sounds that I didn't even know was enabled called "mono audio",  not sure why anyone would want this.

If you want true 7.1 surround you are going to be shelling out for a 7.1 surround speaker setup, which is ridiculous...how sweaty do you have to be at some games to have already spent hundreds on headphones and still want to spend more just to hear some footsteps? lol

The Logitech G933 Artemis is awesome. It features 7.1 surround sound and works like a charm.

It also weighs so much that it'll give you headaches after half an hour... (at least in my experience, used it for 3 years).

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Am using it for about a year now and am wearing it quite often for 8 hours + without any complaints.

It's not JUST footsteps, that's just an example I'm giving.

My point still stands lmao it's stupid to be spending any more money on audio gear.

So I should just have no audio? I don't like speakers, I don't want to wake anyone up & they aren't as immersive.
