My M.2 nvme ssd won't show up B450M Steel legend bios

So i bought this Asrock B450M Steel legend mobo back on october 2020, and it's been working fine for me since.

until today when i tried to install a new nvme ssd it just won't detect it (i was using a sata ssd before and it worked just fine), it won't detect it on the bios and nothing on windows too.

i already confirmed that the ssd works fine, i tried it on a Gigabyte A320M board聽and it works fine, detected on bios and windows etc.

i tried both upgrading and downgrading my bios and still no luck 馃槥

can anyone help me figure it out or should i just RMA my board.

use the other M.2 slot, one slot is SATA only.

Quote

- 1 x Ultra M.2 Socket (M2_1), supports M Key type 2242/2260/2280 M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen3 x4 (32 Gb/s)聽

- 1 x M.2 Socket (M2_2), supports M Key type 2230/2242/2260/2280 M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s module

Also:

M2_2 and SATA3_3 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the other one will be disabled.

So you are using the TOP m.2 slot? (the one above the graphics card) and its not showing in the bios?

What CPU are you using?

Then聽3.60 (NOT 3.60P unless your mobo is pink) is the recommended聽bios.

If聽M.2_2 is empty you can connect all other storage. Remember you will need to go to disk management to see any new drives.

Since I badly needed my pc right now doing a warranty service is not an option for me at this moment. I feel like there is really something that I need to troubleshoot for that nvme to show up but I cannot figure it out.

They said mine has a factory defect, it has missing transistor behind the motherboard, other than that they didn鈥檛 tell me any further

And i have other problems too like I can鈥檛 get my ram past 3200mhz before they replace my motherboard, on this new one I could get my ram to 3400mhz without any problems at all

I had the same dilema. You actually don't need the board to see the drive in bios. If your drive has the boot sector on it, just hit F-11 key and it shows up there. It will from it then and from then on. Mine has.
