Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to get my first gaming rig together and whilst I was contemplating doing a build from scratch, I'm a bit nervous about spending a lot of money and not being able to put it to together plus overclock so I've gone for a system build website option but would love to know what you think or if I should be changing anything?. I pretty much play strategy games like empire at war but will at some point venture to trying cyberpunk but this won't be the machines main gaming time. In terms of my monitor I have a Samsung Odyssey G9.

I've chosen to use the CyberPower UK website but open to any other suggestions too, the rig is currently coming out at £3,464.40 which I'm happy with but if their are other recommendations you think re worth investing in I'd be up to going to £4K : https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk

Sorry - Is there any recommendations on wether I should change parts or adopt a different system build.

Not really, Think of it this way if you were to build it yourself right now there's shipping potential DOA, Shortage/stock issues, Scalpers/Thieves and a plethora of other things that could potentially go wrong with your custom build. Prebuilt rigs (especially right now with things being as perilous as they are) are the best choice for those that DO have the money to buy one as you are guaranteed a nice GPU. That being said I'm drooling over that part list. If you were to take the bite on that prebuild it'd last a while to come just make sure to baby it and check its temps and stay away from the naughty places.

I'd only point 2 thinks that seems odd for me.

  1. Why get 1TB secondary SSD when the main one is 2TB? Not saying that the main one shouldn't be 2TB, but for me it doesn't makes sense that the secondary drive has less capacity than the main one.
  2. Why getting a PCI-E WIFI adapter when the MOBO already has dual band WIFI with similar capabilites than the adapter?

For the other things, nothing to point that's out of place.

Thanks Vlad, I'm pretty new at this and didn't realise that I didn't need the wifi adapter. I'll save myself some money on that and take it out.

I'll upgrade the secondary to 2TB. Cheers

Hi

Not a fan of that motherboard. The MSI X570 Tomahawk would be a much better option if you need wifi. There is also the MSI B550 Gaming Edge Wifi (Avoid the X570 version).

I wouldn't overspend on the Ram, so if 3200MHz CL16/3600MHz CL16 is cheaper then take that over the 4000MHz.

A Gen 4 SSD won't make a huge difference at the minute for gaming, although that should change once direct storage is more of a thing. The Samsung drives are usually overpriced though and there is normally better value such as the Sabrent Rocket Gen4 or WD Black SN850 etc. Also the 870 QVO is a bit meh. A WD Blue SN550 would be fine for the 2nd SSD.

I would get the same case fans as the cooler if you want the RGB to sync. If you don't mind no RGB then the Arctic Liquid Freezer 360mm is a great cooler, and you the Arctic P12 fans are good value as well. Also that case can take 9 fans in total so I would go 6 x intake (Bottom/Side) and 3 x exhaust (Top).

I will post again later after I get back home.
