Good PC, high FPS in games, but freezing and stuttering occurring.

Reveem

The last couple of days I have noticed on my rig that it has been stuttering on my PC and freezing, I would move my mouse around and it would freeze along with the video. I launched Warzone earlier because I was just testing it out and seeing how it was and I got periodic freezes, but getting about 130FPS Ultra everything. I then closed the game and tried Doom Eternal, and it isnt as bad but it is freezing in that too. I want some recommendations as to what I should do and how to find out what the problem is

i9 10850k
RTX 2070
Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB V2 32GB DDR3 3600 ram
4TB HDD
500GB SSD
MPG Z490 Gaming Plus

I have also updated GPU Drivers, Bios, defragged HDD through Defragment and Optimize Drives on Windows 10, and also set my power plan to Ultimate Performance. Using MSI Dragon Center, CPU Temp is 50c and GPU usage with jump to about 98-96% and then drop to 40-60 and then back up.

Are you running Warzone / Doom on Windowed Mode, or Full Screen Borderless?

You need to run it at Full Screen.

Warzone is KNOWN to automatically change your in-game settings without notice, so check your graphics settings from time-to-time.

Also, Warzone has some kind of GPU VRAM "memory leak" or something, at least for me.

I have a 8GB GPU, and slowly, it will creep up the VRAM usage, until it gets to 10GB+, and the game starts stuttering.

It is because the GPU has ran out of VRAM, and it page-filing onto your SSD / HDD.

If you haven't already, go into the adv_options.ini file and change the VideoMemoryScaling.

Default is 0.85; I dropped mine to 0.65, and the stuttering hasn't come back yet.

For some people, INCREASING the number up to 0.9 / 0.95 / 1.0 fixes their stutter, while for others (like me) DECREASING it was the fix.

Thank you, I will try, I ended up uninstalling Modern Warfare and just playing Doom Eternal right now and am not experiencing much issues, I am using Ultra Nightmare Performance Metrics and every once in a while on the lines for FPS, TOTAL, CPU, GPU, the lines will all be green and then there will be a red line across all three and the numbers for the CPU and GPU at the top will go red.

@Reveem

I just see the 2x red lines on the CPU histogram.

Something is either stealing CPU resources briefly, or making your SSD / HDD is loading something in the background, making the CPU spike.

Are your games installed on your SSD or HDD?

I would check / monitor what apps or programs is running in the background.

There are a few games like Cyberpunk loaded up on SSD but most are installed on HDD. The only things running in the background are like.... MSI Stuff, Razer, Origin which I closed, ICUE, and Xbox stuff which I dont know why that is running. But I will say after playing Doom for a bit there were no freezes or stuttering, just the occassional little blip that was like a single frame, and that was happening every once in a while. My main thing is the PC freezing when watching media, like Disney+ and youtube.

MSi Dragon Center can cause issues, so check that.

I *think* iCUE has some issues in the past, but seems to be okay now?

Are you able to check HDD activity?

I'm suspecting it is the HDD, loading textures and things in the background, causing the short blip.

I can't explain the freezing with media (streaming) playback...I'll have to look into that...
