PCI-E lanes required for an odd build

Hi,

I am planning to rebuild/upgrade my home server running an ancient AMD 6800K. It has two x8 LSI HBAs with some 12 drives connected to it. The cards are PCI-E gen 2 (LSI 9211-8i). I also have an additional 100mbps Lan card and a USB drive for back ups.

Now I am planning to go the AM4 route and get something like a 3600 or a 3700x and keep the 2 HBAs and the Lan card and add a cheap graphics card since the Ryzen chips don't have graphics.

I am concerned about whether I would have enough PCI-E lanes for all the components. Will they work okay?

Yeah it should be enough for 2x8.

If you don't use the x16 GPU, it can split into 2x8.

I recommend getting a x470/570 full ATX board.

you don't need your old lan card, just use the onboard 1gbe.

He is running a server though, so dual lan is probably useful in his case.

I'd need a 2nd land card for virtualization purposes. And a x1 graphics card as well.

Do they have the same number of PCI-e lanes? any retailers you can point to who'd be willing to sell? I'd need to to be delivered to Bangladesh.

Yes, but you don't need to use the PCIe for the gpu.

12 Drives won't saturate even 1 slot x8 of PCIe 2.0 (4000MB/s)

12 x 200MB/s = 2400 MB/s you still have a lot.

You have 16 or 2x8 from the CPU and 16 from the chipset.
