Should I buy RTX 20 or 30 series? for 1080p gaming

So, I'm planning to build a new PC but I'm really confused as to which graphics card to buy. I was thinking of picking up a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 8GB GDDR6 cause that seems to be the only one I can find. If i get that, will it last me till the end of this gen for 1080p gaming? Aiming for 1080p 60fps at high settings. Or should I just wait until I can find a  3060ti?

Yeah a 2080 super would be fine for 1080p gaming, tho the price for that is going to be a little inflated because of the GPU shortage.

You can probably game on 1080p at 60fps on a 10 series card -- like a 1070 or, if you wanna get nuts, a 1080 TI.  Most 20 series cards are absurdly overpowered for 1080p -- which isn't a bad thing, mind you, but if you're on a budget it's worth considering that you'll get all the performance you want with the older cards.  30 series cards probably won't even have to kick on their cooling fans to run 1080p.

if you only want game at 60fps, then pretty much even the lowest end rtx gpu is overkill but if you do have 144hz monitor then 2060s might be worth it

i'll check them out, thanks 🙂
