Hello,

I am in the market for a new graphics card and am having trouble deciding between the RTX 3060 Ti, and RTX 3070. The RTX 3060 Ti is $959* (Price was $1039) AUD, while the RTX 3070 is $1199, both of them are the AORUS Master variants. Which graphics card would make more sense in my use case of 1440p gaming at 144Hz?

I would say spend the little extra for the 3070. It will be able to run 1440p 144hz for longer than the 3060 ti.

The more I learn, the more I realise I don't actually know anything.

Recommendations: Lian Li 205m (sleek, pretty decent airflow for a non-mesh front panel and cheap), i5-10400f (Ryzen 5 3600 performance, 20% cheaper), Arctic P14 PWM fans, Logitech g305.

I wouldn't really reccomend buying a GPU right now, much less the aorus master variants- they're kinda overkill- but if you really want a card now and don't mind paying an extra premium, AND you must have the aorus master/it's your only option, I would reccomend the 3070. If you decide that you want a different variant, see how much the 3070.3080 FE variants are.

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

Assuming you really, really don't mind these prices and that they're not out of the ordinary for Australia, it's a 15% price increase for roughly the same improvement in performance at 1440p.  The case is fuzzier and tips towards the 3060 Ti when the price difference is more stark (US$399 vs. US$499), but in your case I'd say there's a very compelling argument for the 3070.

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.

Sadly the founder edition variants never launched in Australia, love the screen on the AORUS, bit gimmicky but it's quite cool.

The prices are a tad inflated, with the cheapest 3070 going for $969 AUD, being the eVGA RTX 3070 XC3. And the cheapest 3060 Ti being $799 with the eVGA RTX 3060 Ti FTW3 Ultra.

id say whichever one you are able to get if you need a gpu asap. otherwise, if either is obtainable for you, id go for the 3070.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, I have now found the RTX 3060 Ti AORUS Master for $959 rather then $1039 AUD! That makes the 3070 AORUS Master $240 more expensive.

Okay, so the price hike goes to 25% over the 3060 Ti.

I'd still go with the 3070 but the margins do start to thin.  If you're planning on hanging onto this GPU for a while, the 3070 still has the strongest case for it, imho.
