So I was just watching the new LTT Starlink video. I don't know if I should switch or not. I currently have cable internet with an average of 115 mbps down and 11 mbps up with anywhere from 5 to 20 ms of ping for 70 dollars a month. I've been trying to get 200 or 400 mbps but that is not available in the area. Linus said that Starlink gets 140 mbps down and 23 mbps up and 20 to 30 ms of ping for 100 dollars a month. I sometimes host servers and I have been putting aside some money to buy a server rig. In games I usually have about 60 ms ping. I really don't have a problem with what I have right now but 10 mbps up is not great for hosting. Should I switch or stick with what I have?

I'd rather invest the money into a server that is hosted professionally (e.g. a VPS). It's probably going to get better uptime than your home internet.

Dont forget the initial 500$ investment you need to do to even own the hardware.
Plus currently it HIGLY depends on where you are at what time. Since coverage is marginal at best.
Its an awesome tech, for the future. (like in couple years).

To add to what @Eigenvektor said, your best bet is a VPS or dedicated hosting.

If you're a student, you can sign up for the GitHub Student Developer Pack and get free credit with DigitalOcean, Azure, and AWS along with a free domain. If you're not a student, AWS offers a free year of t2/t3.micro. Alternatively, I would recommend OVH for VPS hosting or SoYouStart for cheap dedicated hosting.
