6Core/6Threads or 6Core/12Threads (Minecraft Server)

I'm wondering between a Ryzen 5 3500X (6c/6t) vs Ryzen 5 3600 (6c/12t). For Minecraft Server, which one will be better?

Minecraft servers are basically single threaded, so it won't matter. Id probalby get something like a 10100 here, a bit faster single threaded, cheaper, and has a igpu.

i3-10100 is good, but it doesn't have much core for my server, i'm looking for " 60+ players CPU "

What else is the server doing?

Minecraft servers are single threaded, so the extra cores won't help you here.

Not super true anymore. They still really like single core perf, but they're needing more. As of 1.15? my 4.2GHz G3258 was barely able to do a vanilla server with just one person online, compared to 1.14 that'd handle half a dozen just fine. I'd probably just go with the hypethreaded part.

Get a 10400f if you can, if you really want a 6 core. It's cheaper than a 3600, performs better in most aspects, and you can use a cheaper motherboard with it- and it still comes with a perfectly fine cooler included with it.

A quad core should still be plenty here, and its still pretty single thread heavy now. Also that seems off, you should still be able to run a single player server on that g3258.

Id go with the non f so you have a igpu for video out.

Nope. Friend's 8320 has the same issue, he used to do 16+ and now its having trouble with 6.

turbo boost will run it at a higher speed than the listed base speed, it will run at about 4ghz under load.

Minecraft servers are single threaded, so the extra cores won't help you here.

Minecraft servers are actually capable of using multi-core and do favor multi-core setups especially when configured correctly, things like paper, newer instances of Forge, and java garbage collection all take advantage of larger amounts of cores

No. It's totally safe unless there's something else effecting your system/that component.

NO, turbo boost is intended behaviour and components like CPU's and GPU's don't actually wear unless heavily heavily overclocked by professionals

Yup, it will be fully automatic. The cpu will basically never run at that stock speed.

Perhaps. If you're going to be running heavily modded versions of minecraft, and you want to have 60 people on at the same time, well, you're not going to have too much fun with anything less than I'd say, well perhaps even an 8 or 10 core.

Also what is your network speed, thats gonna be moving a good amount of data, esp the uploads. Many home connections will struggle with this load.

Thats gonna be pushing it, I have seen >10mbit usage with 4-6 players, so 60 on 100mbit is probalby not enough.

Also home internet connections normally aren't garanteed, so you will often get less than 100mbit.
