GPU Not Displaying Out After Upgrading PSU

Exalted

Specs:

Intel Core i7 9700k

Gigabyte 1070 8gb WIndforce

MSI Z370M Gaming Pro AC

Corsair RMX750

Things were working perfectly fine, until I installed a new PSU. The fans are spinning normally but I'm not getting a display out.

My PSU is brand new. I upgraded from a Corsair CX450.

The first few times I booted, the LED on my GPU was blinking, indicating an abnormal power supply. I am no longer seeing the LED at all.

On some boots the VRAM LED on my motherboard was flashing, but it doesn't anymore.

I've tried my old PSU, putting the PSU cables in other sockets, and resetting the CMOS battery.

I'm really confused, and worried that I've somehow killed my GPU, and I'm really not in a position to be forking over 1000+AUD on a brand new one.

Any help would be great.

Thank you

Did you check to make sure that the cables were correctly seated on both ends of the power supply? You could also have a bad PCIe power cable, so try replacing them to see if the issue goes away. I doubt you killed your GPU, the only real way to do that would be if you plugged a CPU 8pin into the GPU rather than a PCIe 8 pin, either that or the PSU blew up out of the box.

I swapped out the PCIe cable for another, still no display. The VRAM LED stays on for a short while when it boots, but then turns off. Everything else works normally, as the PC is actually posting and logging on (my bluetooth headphones connected to the PC)

You don't have a CXM and are not re-using the modular power cables from the CMX with the RMx, right?

If you did, that's not going to be good...

Can you upload a few pictures of the CPU in the motherboard, and a shot of the PCI-E connector on the GPU?

Maybe a picture of the rest of the motherboard / CPU / RAM, too.

Why is the extra 2-pin on the PCI-E connector flaring out...crooked?

It shouldn't be doing that.

Looks like the extra 2-pin is not plugged in properly.

"Borrowing" this off Corsair but...the extra 2-pin block should sit OVER the 6-pin block.

It should be near perfect flush.

not to be nitpicky but are you sure the pcie cable is plugged in properly - it looks like it's maybe not making proper contact (the 2pin plug)

I'm still at work...but older picture I found from my rig.

Compare the PCI-E 8-pins (6+2) of mine to yours.

I resolved the PCIe issue. Still nothing. My monitor shows signs of a connection during the boot process (goes from yellow standby to white for on) and I noticed a change of brightness on the screen briefly, but then it goes back to standby. There still isn't any Debug LEDs on the mobo either.

do you have an old GPU laying around? if not u could get cpu "any" pcie card on ebay for 10 bucks to try (should be compatible) ...

I mean I'm really not sure maybe the gpu is dead, but also I would check all cables really thoroughly - also to make sure no old psu cables are used.... (was that old psu really fully non modular?)

No this is my only GPU. The PSU was fully non modular, its a Corsair CX450, its very basic

An update:

I've completely taken apart my PC and rebuilt it. I've interchanged the provided modular cables, both PCIe cables have done nothing. There is no longer an LED on the GPU. The PSU appears to be working fine, as the PC itself is fully booting and logging into windows (my bluetooth headphones are connecting to the PC and the iCUE is changing the lights of the H100i even though I haven't made any changes to it). I'm fairly certain it is dead at this point. Thank you everyone for attempting to help. If anyone can provide any more attempts to resolve the issue, or at least allow me to find the root of the problem, please let me know before I go out to buy a new GPU.

Thanks

Last step before you go a buy a new GPU...

Try a different monitor cable, and/or try a different output port on the graphics card.

This stuff does happen, though rare, not impossible.

The port or the cable can get damaged (e.g. the pins on the cable connector, etc).

Make sure you are plugging your monitor into the back of your graphics card, and not to the back of the motherboard.

Totally missed it.

What is your GPU in the bottom PCI-E X16 slot?

Is there a reason why you need to put it into the bottom slot?

It should be in the primary (top) PCI-E X16 slot.

I believe it's just leftover from the configuration I had in my older case, the case wasnt that good and I believe it didnt fit properly if I remember correctly. I havent had an issue with it, and I've had the GPU in that slot for almost a year now. Also, I tried different cables, and using the first PCIe slot. Still no output. Curiously, using a display port, the monitor LED is white, which indicates its receiving an input, but the screen is still black. The monitor itself is almost brand new, and the display works (When I turn the monitor on, the MSI logo appears like normal, and I've noticed a brief change of brightness sometimes when I've been boot testing)
