What would be the best laptop to run autocad on I’m a year 12 student not a professional and my budget is $2000aud

It depends on the complexity of the Autocad work. Simple 2-d building blueprints? Anything will work.

Complex 3-d animated? Then you'll want a dedicated video card.

Get a qaudro rtx 4000 a ryzen 7 5800x and 64gb of g.skill ripsaw memory. As far as storage case and motherboard it won't really matter just make shure you do a little bit of research on them before you buy

My bad I missed that part. In that case I probally a Dell inspirion with a quadro.

That was my thought as well, but even a basic laptop will do AutoCAD if the work required is simple enough (2-d floor plans, for example.)

Like said, really depends on the work you are going to do. But if you get one with consumer graphics card, be sure to check that you can get verified drivers for maximum optimization.

 

As example, our school PCs are i5-7500 with iGPU. They are bit too slow for anything more complex, but just fine for student projects for urban planning, civil engineers and architecture students.
