it's just an ssd, it will make loading times shorter, opening stuff will take less time

 

if you stopped virtualizing because the guest OS was laggy, then it's more of a cpu problem and it will persist even after installing an ssd

Will this make virtualized programs run faster? If so this could mean I could finally go back to linux and virtualise windows properly!

Why are you using Linux if you rely on Windows to do what you need to do? Why not just use Windows and install Cygwin?

From what I know, Linux is more secure and I just generally prefer it. I seriously miss the multiple desktops and the fact it didn't really slow down for me over time. Windows is great for driver support and gaming, but for me, if I had better gpu support and gaming on linux, I would move to it straight away.

i never tried it, it might make your computer explode

An SSD is great for hosting multiple VMs on it. The increased activity will actually allow your SSD to utilize larger queue depths, increasing its overall performance.

 

You will still need more RAM and CPU power, but an SSD is a great option.
