usb iso game install...

i no you can make a windows iso bootable usb but can you say rip a game from a cd in to and iso and mount that to a usb and install the usb and it installs the game?

I believe there likely is. I dont know how as its been probably nearly 20 years since I last did this with Warcraft 3 back in the day.

ya i no you can mounted an iso with deamontools (fake dvd drive emulator) but i was just wonder can it be done with an usb.

Depends. If the CD simply contains an installer and some files, then you can just copy all of the files somewhere else and install the game from there.

 

If the CD contains some kind of "hardware" copy protection, then having the CD in the drive is required for the game to install and/or run. E.g. some copy protected CDs contain a track with varying distances between bits, and the drive is able to measure the latency variation, which serves to identify that the original disk is in the drive.

i guess in that case you would need to have the no cd crack file in the folder some how

When you double click on an iso in W10 it mounts as a virtual CD drive, so you can do that regardless of where the ISO is stored. As mentioned any copy protection will not work.

In Windows 7, I used ImDisk Virtual Disk - https://sourceforge.net/projects/imdisk-toolkit/  - which also allows you to create ram drives, besides mounting ISO images as virtual cd/dvd drives.

It's free, it works, it's lightweight...

There's also buying (or finding) an optical drive, getting some cheap CDs, and burning it.
