How to safely store CPU

dpeter

So my mobo is dead and im about to activate the RMA on it, but i already threw my CPU box out and its a Ryzen processor with those fragile pins, some help would be appreciated on how to store the CPU safely for this period. I was thinking on putting it upside down on some box and leave it in a safe place for the time being, is it safe?

if you just leave it upside down, there should be no problem

You can search for one of those on ebay or other site in brazil, its called CPU clam-shell (make sure its AMD not Intel). Then only cost few $

Put it upside down inside a box, any box. Preferably one closest to the size of the CPU.

Then put the box somewhere that it won't get smashed.

You're all done!

I put it upside down in a hermetic sealed plastic pot, i stored it inside my case and there is no direct sunlight in its direction. Is that ok? it would be only for about 2 weeks until i can send my board for the RMA and receive a new one

Not the safest but if you don't knock it over you should be fine lol. I wouldn't personally do this I would just buy a cheap CPU clam-shell box.

Edit: they are pretty cheap so consider buying the box, but if your motherboard ships fast within a few days or so then don't buy it.

Hahahaha, i threw my box away, had to improvise, and since here in Brazil every hardware costs an arm and leg you can imagine that a Ryzen 7 is a small fortune here and i was very scared to break it.

I locked it inside my case, so its pretty safe from knocking it over, and i washed this pot with alcohol before putting the cpu in, just in case.
