I can't be the only one seeing some changes to the icons in the inbox. I have attached the ones from my original email address, and the new ones (you may have to click on them). What the hell... I hate the changes. I have trouble seeing the lines, as they are too thin to distinguish. Getting older, I know 😞

Gmail has been “what the hell?!” For a long time now.  When it started it was really good. No longer.   They used to have really good spam detection.  They still do but they seem to refuse to actually use it.  My “spam” folder is completely invisible now.  All I have is “junk” which doesn’t actually do much. The spam folder apparently still exists but I can’t access it so all it does is serve to trap stuff I actually need to see and prevent me from finding it.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

lol, that's not normal. I can see mine... and all the amount of scam mails I get is mind boggling at times (the ones either about someone trying to extort you out of thousands of dollars, and they "threaten" to "expose" you OR how about their "late husband" died and they had to move money out of the country. From the last three decades... they still think we'll fall for the classic "Nigerian" scam. Whether it truly originates in Nigeria at this point is irrelevant). Trying to scam IT professionals like ourselves is the dumbest thing honestly... sure, they don't actually know who they are scamming. Obviously, they just buy the emails and then poof, spam mails appears. But God, are they ever annoying. Assuming they believe in God... I would not want to be them in 70 years from now. Try telling God you felt no remorse stealing money from people over and over, and over.

My Gmail is really really old.  I was an early adopter.  I registered my accounts in the first year gmail was open to the public. Back when the company slogan was “don’t be evil”.  They apparently had to remove that one.  I’ve watched it change over time and become less and less consumer friendly and more and more advertiser friendly.  I’m not an IT professional anymore.  I’m at this point mostly just an old dude who likes to play video games.  I remember some stuff from when I was one,  which can be useful generally sometimes, but I consider myself one of the least on-top-of-things regular posters.  Specifics I often suck hard at.

Oh yeah, me too. I remember when someone sent me an invite lol. Not sure how he had gotten in, but I was able to access the alpha stage. Yeah, if I hadn't been using Gmail since its inception, I wouldn't be able using it now. Sure, I have an Android, which technically is part Google, but I don't use their assistant, I don't use Hey Google (or whatever it's called), nor Google (the search engine). The only thing I will ever use is Gmail and their Google Voice (when I am in a different country). I remember when Gmail was more similar to Windows 98 or ME (I guess?) in terms of their UI. Can't remember much of it, but it is definitely way different than what it is now. Although, I know you can still use it lol. At least, a semblance of the original, with a simple HTML version.

I do more than just IT stuff though. I'm also a published author and editor. I have been writing since I have probably around 14 or so. I just started last year to actually start publishing my work (and writing new stuff in the process).
