Deleted Macintosh HD on accident and now it does not exist?

I do no know the specifics on how she got into this situation, but my sister just got a macbook air, running high sierra. Somehow she ended up deleting Macintosh HD. The drive does not show up in disk utility within internet recovery mode, and when i try to reinstall, no drives are listed. but when i go to the command line and use diskutil list  it shows up in there. Trying to figure out how to get it reinitialized so to speak. Dont think data loss is an issue due to her only getting it a couple days ago.

From the list you already have make a note of the disk name & path then do

diskutil eraseDisk HFS+ DiskName /dev/DiskNodeID

This should erase the disk and format it using HFS+.

Replace DiskName with whatever you want to name the disk.

Ahh, its APFS. Sorry but I have no idea, I know nothing about APFS.

Its weird diskutil isn't showing any free space on disk 1 though. Actually it is showing 121gb free on the container, it seems as though she's deleted the main data volume.

Try this and see if you can get the disk to show in Disk Utility - https://osxdaily.com/2019/08/16/show-all-devices-disk-utility-mac/

That was the first thing i tried. do you think the command would work if i put APFS instead of HFS+?

it should. Worst that's gonna happen is it doesn't work.

Especially since i was gonna suggest the show all devices method, but you said you already tried that.
