TF "adapter" to connect an HDD/SSD to an action cam (?)

y0ur5h4d0w

hey guys! i own a Xiaomi Yi action cam that saves everything to a TF (micro SD), the problem comes when i have a couple days to record in 1080p 60fps, i need more then just 32GB of storege... i'd like to hook up my 1tb drive to the cam, is there a way to connect my HDD to my action cam using the TF side? there's no other way to hook up a storage to the action cam

This cam doesn't have a USB port?

it does, though it's to connect it to the PC and the PC sees it as an external usb storage

i was looking for a cable for an 2.5" sata HDD that ends up to a micro SD in order to use it as an "adapter" though it doesn't exist 😞

SD and USB/SATA are different protocols, so you can't go direct from one to the other. Hypothetically you could build an interposer to convert one to the other, but I'm not aware of anything existing like this.

You can get 1TB microSD cards (though quality may vary, and some cheap cameras are limited to FAT32, which isn't the greatest on large drives).

Alternatively, you could find a wifi camera and stream to a local computer and capture that.

well i can stream the "live view" of what my camera sees, though when i'm using the software "xiaomi yi master" it caputres pretty low quality video, this camera can capture 1080p 60fps but the live view looks like around 420p and i don't understand how to change it 😕

I see the unit has a wifi built in, and from what I could tell, the SD card is removeable? If this is accurate, why not get an SD card reader, and dump right to the PC that way, or are you trying to move data on the fly?

EDIT:

there is this device...

https://www.amazon.com/Epson-P-7000-Multimedia-Storage-Audio-Video/dp/B001DKATYI

if you are looking for on the fly data storage

the fact is that i have to record everything on the SD card, and in some cases i need to keep recording even for more then 20h straight so i can't dump anything on my PC

sounds like it's impossible to actually use an HDD as SD card 😕

How about having multiple SD cards available, just swap them out when its full, and dump to the PC when you are done with your recording?
