Go to solution Solved by Kanna,

That sounds ridiculous it’s nit true the 960 will work fine with your stuff, they might mean bottleneck which you won’t get but you should try get 16GB ddr3

im planning to buy a gtx 960(im broke😞) and i saw in a forum that a gpu needs to be compatible with a ram to work i have a8 6600k and Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-S1 mobo and i have a ddr3 2x4gb 800mhz ram is it going to work or a ram needs to be compatible with gpu in order to work isnt a thing?

edit: my ram is 1600mhz but cpu z says its only 800 idk why

thanks but i tested it with a bottleneck calc online its only 0.89% https://pc-builds.com/calculator/A8-6600K_APU/GeForce_GTX_960/0vo0Oe/  so its not going to bottleneck

No, there wont' be a compatibility issue with the gpu, it works independently.

You can buy any gpu / ram that you like.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

Yeah so bottleneck calcs aren’t accurate but still it wouldn’t bottleneck
