shared RAM ruining my experience

Ok, so here is my issue:

 

since i dont have a dedicated graphics my 16 GB of 2600 ddr4 sdRAM is divided over the graphics, this division is fluid, so sometimes it'll have 1024MB VRAM and other times it'll have 8GB of VRAM

 

The issue is that only when an app specifies it needs a certain amount of VRAM, the shared ram goes more towards the GPU, but no app will take more because they think its a hard limit, sometimes it does get triggered tho and ill have buttersmooth graphics, but that rarely happens, anyone have an idea to increase the standard 1024MB of VRAM or trigger this VRAM change?

 

PC specs

Acer aspire 3 (a315-41-r163)

AMD ryzen 5 2500u

radeon vega 8

second display+ extra pheripherals including mouse and keyboard

Does the BIOS of the laptop not have an option to increase dedicated VRAM allocation? it should have that afaik

Umfortunately not, that's why i posted, all other forums/sites als me to do that.

Then there's probably nothing you can do about it, since Acer has locked down the BIOS

I too have an old Dell desktop which defaults to the iGPU and ignores the presence of a discrete GPU, which i can't fix because Dell doesn't have GPU selection in their BIOS

if it's ryzen compatible it should have. 

 

in my bios it's like hidden behind 3 other settings lol, thanks AMD MSI 

 

 

Edit: yeah I have no idea why Dell would do that, I'm pretty sure I can set this up on my laptop too (with Intel igpu)

I honestly don't remember anymore sorry... 99% sure in "GPU settings" somewhere, but if you don't have those... that's bad obviously. 

It maybe called VGA settings or similar tho?
