Can I use an external power supply temporarily?

I know it's unsafe to use an external power supply for a GPU but I was wondering if I could use it for about a week while I wait for the proper adapters for my non modular power supply come in, the external power supply is 80+ gold.

One you really already answered your question and 2 80+ gold doesn't mean its a good power supply. If anything I would look up reviews and see if others have been successful but I personally would avoid it and wait.
