I've used to use Bitdefender a few years ago but Microsoft Defender (Windows Security) has gotten good enough that it wasn't necessary anymore, I have reasonable trust in it to protect my system from viruses

Well, that's fair because Bitdefender is Chinese!

I see no such claims anywhere that it was bought by 360 Total Security..

Only relation I see between Qihoo 360 (360 Total Security) and Bitdefender, is that 360TS is using Bitdefender's engine.

This is not proof that Qihoo owns or made Bitdefender, their 360 Total Security software is using multiple antivirus engines to scan for "extra security", I'm assuming they've grabbed licenses for it to utilize it, though they've removed Bitdefender from their software a couple of years ago.

Are you also saying that Qihoo owns Avira?

It's pretty clear that OP doesn't understand the difference between licensing software and buying a company.
