@Stugotsv10 - that can be true for some game but won't be for all -there is no definitive final word. If the game has no SLI profile then you need to test whether disabling "Multi-GPU Technology" improves your framerate or not.

Also a second card can cause games to act weird

Thats the one I Was afraid of, and since there is not much benefit for SLI.. im debating

There is no benefit anymore as nvidia officially killed it off so just keep one card or get a single better card. That will always be better than multiple.

Games that do not support SLI simply wont use the second card. Performance drops and glitches occur in games with bad SLI support, which means the devs should have disabled SLI altogether if they didnt bother to make SLI work but didn't.

Why do you think they all of a sudden allowed it back on the 3090's?

They never killed it, just cutting down options for SLI every generation. 4 way max to 2 way max, then x50 minimum for SLI changed to xx70 minimum, then xx90 minimum and only card. They are trying to phase it out over time because there's just too much optimization effort needed, even though benchmarkers still want it for more scores.

For the extreme overclockers, and those *SOME* 2020 / 2021 AAA games where the developer *might* support SLI / Crossfire.

SLI is only limited to the RTX 3090 ... so that makes ... 90%+ of nVidia card buyers to not run SLI.

The majority of gamers will either get a RTX 3050 / 3060 / 3070 / 3080 ... and those people won't get SLI support.
