Hello all!

I'm planning a mini-ITX system AMD based and I crafted this parts list. It's a full PC except for the GPU which would use my existing one and will also include an existing Samsung 2.5'' EVO SSD and one or two classic HDDs for long term storage (Until I'm able to get rid of the HDD's by moving data elsewhere)

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core €314,00
Asus ROG Strix X570-I €208,90
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 €158,44
Corsair Crystal 280X MicroATX Mid Tower Case (Black) €119,27
Corsair RMx 650 W 80+ Gold €93,09
Corsair MP600 Force Series Gen4 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME €186,04
Corsair H115i (280mm) €149,00

The motivations here were:

  • I started with a case I liked which limited the choice of MB's. I'm biased towards ASUS purely because I've been working with those MB's all my life without any issues. Also I wanted WiFi so i picked the X570-I
  • I'm aiming this to allow smart memory access which implies the X570 chipset.
  • I picked a "middle range" DDR4 kit both in speed and CAS (3600;18). I don't care about RGB
  • Picked a 650W PSU from the minimum requirements provided by AMD for the Radeon 6800.
  • The MP600 SSD was just a recomendation from a friend. I believe it can fit by removing the existing heatsink and using the one provided by the motherboard.

Now, the main issue here is the cooler. I originally had the Noctua NH-L12S on the list after a painful process of picking a cooler that was compatible with the CPU, Case and MB. The L12-S was the best option. However I then found out on this thread that it won't fit on the motherboard/case properly so I moved to an AIO. On top of that, despite Noctua's excellent compatibility lists I can't be sure if the RAM height will interfere with it.

I don't really care much about AIO's as I think they are more prone to fail but it appears to be the more popular option. I think that this AIO works with the case (according to Corsair's own website) but I can't be sure if it's a proper cooler for the 5600X in terms of heat extraction capacity.

So essentially, I ask for your expert help :) to check not only if anyone sees any obvious mistake with the build but also to validate if the cooler/CPU combination make sense.

Thank you!

SAM is supported on B550.

The SSD is so expensive. for 1TB? do you really need pcie4 drive? if not go for samsung 970 evo.

5600x is not a hot cpu, so you really don't need a high end cooling.

The case supports matx boards, so go with a matx board, they are cheaper and have more features than mini itx.

Go for b550, it has all the advantages of x570 but it's more modern and cheaper

You can get away with a mid-range air cooler, the 5600x isn't hot enough to require a 280mm aio.
