Is the ASUS Dual Radeon RX 5500 XT EVO 4GB GDDR6 Good?

blackviking03

My friend is planning to buy the ASUS Dual Radeon RX 5500 XT EVO 4GB GDDR6 and he asked me for advice.

Manufacturer's site: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Graphics-Cards/All-series/DUAL-RX5500XT-O4G-EVO/

Since i don't have much experience with AMD Cards I've decided to make a post here to help me help him decide whether to buy it or not.

He planned to buy the Gigabyte Windforce model which was cheaper but since I own a Gigabyte Windforce Nvidia card which is loud AF while gaming I told him to find something from ASUS, MSI or EVGA since they have a better reputation in cooling their GPUs.

There weren't any MSI or EVGA models on Webstores in our country and the only one he could find which seemed good for the price was that one.

So my main questions are:

1. Are the fans loud while gaming? (Compared to my Gigabyte Windforce Nvidia Card's fans which go up to 2400 RPM while under load and they are pretty loud).

2. Is it good for basic gaming? (CSGO, Call of Duty Warzone, Wolfenstein, etc.)

3. Are the temperatures good? (My Card goes up to 80 Degrees while gaming and not lower than 43 Degrees while Idle)

i heard that gigabyte has also made a good cooling solution for the 5700 xt

Call of Duty Warzone

an rx 580 can handle warzone at max graphics, so a 5500 xt should be alright

do keep in mind it is a budget card so it should have less power draw than more higher end cards, so it should produce a lot less heat

again the higher end the card the more likely it has more of a power draw and so the more heat it will produce, so it shouldnt be all that loud

The 5500xt has roughly the same performance as the rx 580 so it should be fine at playing 1080p for most games unless you are playing something really demanding then you may have to lower the quality settings a little. Anyways it should be fine but I would go for the 8 gb version if possible because 4gb might not cut it for some games at 1080p. As for the specific model I would look for a specific review of the model because unless someone else has the same model they won't know what to expect from noise or temps.

Higher end models do produce more heat but they also get much bigger and better heatsinks so it doesn't always translate completely. Sometimes low end cards will have such terrible heatsinks that they still are loud af.

that is a very good point, i didnt really think of it that way, maybe its because over the recent years lower end/ mid range gpu's have been getting more "full sized"

Just for comparison, the 5500 XT is about on-par to a GTX 1650 Super / GTX 1660 (non-Super).

It's not a high-end card, but something on the lower-end / middle-of-the-road.

Should have no issues with CS:GO, CoD, etc.

If you can get a GTX 1660 / GTX 1660 Super for around the price of a 5500 XT, that would be a good option.

E.g. don't lock yourself to JUST the 5500 XT.

(This is coming from an AMD GPU user)

The 'DUAL' cooling solution is ASUS' lower-tier GPU cooler... it is below the STRIX, TUF tier of coolers.

My fiend owns a Gigabyte 5700 XT OC, and it has a similar WindForce 3X cooler (while I own a Sapphire NITRO+ 5700 XT)

Yeah, but the situation with GPU stock in our country is really bad, you can't even find a 1650 Super anymore & 1660 Super cards are like more than 100 euros more expensive.
