Got an old drive i am activly using now for seeding, but it has windows installed on it and a load of old files etc which i can't be bothered to go through yet.

I am never going to be booting from this drive, however want to keep the data on it such as everything on the desktop, and programs installed in program files etc.

Does the actual windows directory have any relevance to any of this? its like 25gb. How do i just finna del it?

If you aren't booting from it, its just another folder. Though you might have troubles actually deleting it since Windows doesn't always want to delete locked files or those starting with ".".

No relevance what so ever. Just delete it. You may need to overwrite the access permissions of the entire drive and take ownership first to do so.

Well that's not how they work. A program installed on a different windows install does not work when you try to run it on another one as many files are missing on the new windows that it needs and it can only get those when you install the program (no copy pasting doesn't work). So basically get some data off the drive and remove all you want or just format the drive.

2 things.

Did you install programs from your current windows install to the disk with the old one?

Do you have firefox installed on your current windows install? If so it will just open that one or fill the missing files.

You need admin priviliges for that so you basically Right click -> properties -> security -> full control to whatever account you are using.

I tried taking ownership, and assumed i am the administrator but the computer thinks differently

Ill try setting ownership to just 'user'.

I dont have firefox on my current computer no, and no i didnt install it from my current one to the disk, it was installed years ago onto the disk on a different computer. Other software i installed years ago on that drive all work fine too.

It's hard to delete a windows folder in windows

I suggest you move the things out, and do a format of the drive, then put the things back in if you want

I think you may be right.

You start by asking around

I don't allow it.

But do make a backup before you delete anything, sometimes software stores things at weird places

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately
