im adding to a Meshify 2 XL,  What electronic component do I need to add to the trays to make them hot-swappable so anyone can pull the drive out without disconnecting cables for 3.5 inch drives inside the case.   Same idea as the hot swappable drive bays that are 5.25 are made to be accessible from the outside of the case?

What exactly do you want? Do you want them so you can pull the drive without having to deal with cables needing unplugged (like a slot card or something)?

The case doesn't have 5.25 bays built into it.

you can make your own there are pannel mount sata/power. or something like this

Ok,  All i have seen are adapters for 2.5 to 3.5"   Do you know of any that are for the 3.5" Western Digital 6TB WD Blue PC Hard Drive - 5400 RPM Class, SATA 6

so you want an 3,5 sata hot sawp but you also want to mount in it an 3.5 slot?

Yes or 3d print a larger slot.  this is what is in the case https://www.fractal-design.com/products/accessories/mounting/hard-drive-cage-kit-type-b/black/

ya i would make your own with the panel mount 90 sata/power or make a bigger cage like you said and mount the 3.5 hot swap in it.

if there is a pcb with sata/power mounted to it i probably wont be the right spacing any way.

other option would be find some one that can make a pcb for you and mount sata headers to it and some how mont it to the back of the cage... but that would probably be costly but i dont no.

you could stack the 3.5 hotswap and add side to that.

There's really no way that you're going to do this without mounting a bunch of cages inside of the case. Depending on how deep those 5.25 cages are you might be able to get away with removing the storage mounting panel and mounting them somehow wherever they fit, maybe stack them, hang them from the radiator mount or something too. You might be able to DIY an entire backplane but even then the drive sleds really don't slide in so someone else would absolutely break any connectors you mounted in there in. The fractal sleds are fairly rigid for having only 1 fastener but they're really not what I'd describe as sturdy, robust and easy to use.

Whatever way you end up doing this, it's probably not going to be very well done. For the cost of materials that you're looking at, you could likely just buy something rack mount and designed to do what you're looking for.

It sounds more like the issue is that you're wanting this build to be accessible by other people. If someone has no idea what something is doing or how it works, they shouldn't be maintaining it until they understand it.
