Starting a Website/ Free Web Hosting

Giddyguy
Go to solution Solved by SJBijzitter,

000webhost is pretty damn good being free.

i host my own websites using Hosting24, if you want a coupon (which benefits both of us) just shoot me a pm

So I want to create a small personal website just to learn how to do so (i know some html and css). I don't really want to pay for webhosting/domain so do you guys know any good free webhosting websites that come with free domain or subdomains?

So far I've found Xtreemhost but it doesn't come with a subdomain, and Biz.ly that comes with a subdomain but doesn't give much "webspace" (would 50mb be enough?).

Or is there another way create a website? As much information about website creation would be helpful! Thanks!

Don't worry so much about the domain. You can code with HTML and CSS on your own w/o a domain, and everything will show up just fine in your browser.

yea but i want to see it live :D

I use Weebly for all of my websites now.

I've used weebly and google sites before but i want to build one from scratch this time

cool 000webhost looks pretty good, thanks! Just one question, does it provide a sub-domain? (i don't have my own domain) EDIT: I just got a free domain! But they also have sub-domains if anyone else is interested.

And i'm not really at the stage of getting a paid hosting service, but ill remember the offer ;) .

ewww!!! 000webhost!!! gross!!! whenever I use 000webhost and get 100 users a day they end up terminating my account for using up to much bandwidth. I think using a service such as host1free's free vps and setting up your own web server would be allot more efficient

I used them before going professional and I had thousands of users connect every hour and they didn't complain. You probably just fucked up your scripts somewhere causing them to unnecessarily hog resources :P For a free service they're very decent!

Send me a PM and I will set you up a small account on my server which will give you a great test bed - CPanel, MySQL, Postgres, SQLite and all the bells and whistles and I'll just stick a random domain on it.

Well I don't expect many visitors on this website as its just going to be a personal website. At the max 10 views in a day, so it should be fine.

github.io can have your own subdomain, eg pixelpips.github.io, as well as full control over files. Github.io is meant for developing websites, not managing things with cpanel.

I might be wrong.
