212 evo or switch for 3900xt

I currently have a 212 evo on my 3900xt, I see it going at 85 degrees sometimes while using cinebench is that ok? Only have PBO enabled at max 200 mhz boost. When I look at ryzen master it seems to be stuck at 4000 mhz while using cinebench. Will getting a better cooler improve performance? Not looking to spend much tho. I was looking at a Noctua NH-U12S its 80$ on amazon CA rn. Wondering if that's a "worth" purchase.

A better cooler may allow for better boosting but the performance difference wouldn't be much. If temps are capping at 85c, that's fine.

Eeeh you'll mostly get maybe 50-100mhz more from a top tier air cooler, so performance wise you probably won't see much difference

 

85c under full load is fine, it's warm but fine

The hyper 212 should perform the same as wraith prism, which should be included with your CPU?

 

If you don't fully load your CPU often, I really don't see the point of upgrading your cooler unless you want to

 

My 3900x also reach ~80c with dark rock pro 3 on stock settings in open air testings

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

You could get larger improvements for cheaper by swapping the case to a model with decent airflow. Phanteks p300a(add two intake fans), Corsair 4000D airflow(add one intake fan), Lian Li Lancool 215(you can disable rgb) etc.

The A500 performs better. The NH-U14S is quieter but doesn't fit in the S340.

Depending on your fan speeds, it might dip below 80c but I wouldn't be surprised if the cpu just boost more and it still peaks at 85c.
