Should you buy MSI

This has been my experience too. Earlier this year I bought an Asus x570-I motherboard. To install the m.2 you have to remove this heatsink which is connected to these little copper sheathes for the RGB. When I pulled off the heatsink some of the copper sheathed came up with it. I’ve been trying to get the thing repaired by Asus but they claim it’s user damage and my warranty is voided. This would be fine, but to repair the little cosmetic rgb heatsink (which is on a little daughter board that could easily be replaced) they want me to pay $250 (the cost of the motherboard). They’ve had my motherboard for over a month now and I keep getting shuffled around to different supervisors.

I ended up going out and buying the MSI B550 motherboard and couldn’t be happier with it.

I heard of a similar experience with another poster on here with a graphics card...I gotta find it for you cause they gave the same excuse that it was "user-damage" and voided the warranty, wanting the owner to pay over $1100 to repair the graphics card. I've had a ASUS laptop and the motherboard in it crapped out after 5 months of light use...Best Buy took care of me and refunded the store credit of purchasing price of that laptop( Yes, it was that bad). The only ASUS product I've had luck with is their Wi-FI router.

Here is the post of the user that had a similar experience with you, but for graphics cards.

None of the tech companies (or companies in general) are 'ethical companies' they all just want your cash. I will use any of them to get the best product at the best price. The scalping GPU thing would be such a small profit for a massive company like MSI that I don't believe they knew or even really cared, until they got a load of shit from social media.

So 'should' you buy from MSI...Yes if they have a product you want.

I won't buy another MSI product again. But, I've also been burned more than a few times. Live and learn. Even though their newer products might be better, the way they handled the RMA process, the lack of support, and the constant failures have crossed them off of my acceptable list. They're not the only game in town.

I agree, I just got a new MSI board for that reason. I just feel bad supporting a company that clearly is unethical.

Absolutely, but what does it say about the company that it does not know what is happening internally?

If you're so rich that the differences between the prices of computer hardware don't really matter to you, then sure, you can boycott MSI if that makes you feel good.

If you actually have to balance your budget, just buy whatever is most cost-efficient for you. If that happens to be MSI, then get MSI.

Also, if you really want to make the world a better place, consider volunteering at a homeless shelter or a coronavirus hospital or something. You can make actual, positive difference to other people's lives there, whereas you can guarantee MSI is never going to feel so much as an unpleasant itch as a result of you boycotting their products.

If my next PC upgrade happens to be an MSI product, it is what it is, but the feeling of their unethical doings will always lurk.

I'm the kind of person that takes pride in my branded products such clothes, shoes, PC components, and even small things such as home decor and software. In the right environment, I wouldn't exactly be proud to say I own an MSI product, but if I paid the right price for said product, I won't complain for the value.
