amd ryzen 5 3600?

Honestly, I would wait for the Ryzen 5 5600X to become more available before you upgrade. This way you can get PCI-E 4.0 support on B550 or X570, and you'll get the best single core performance currently on the market. Also B550 boards have gotten cheaper recently, especially compared to Intel.

Previously: Core i7-7700K, Asus GTX 1070 Strix OC, MSI Z270 Gaming M5, 16GB Dominator Platinum, SanDisk Ultra 1TB, Corsair H100i V2, Corsair RM850i, NZXT S340 Elite

Current: Ryzen 7 5800X, Gigabyte RTX3080 Vision OC, MSI B550 Gaming Edge WiFi, 32GB G.Skill Trident Z,WD SN750 1TB, BeQuiet Dark Rock 4 Pro, NZXT C750, Corsair 4000D White

I went from a i7 3770k to a Ryzen 9 3900X on a x570 board about 6 months ago, what a difference!

RIG SPECS: Corsair 800D case, MSI Z77 Big Bang Motherboard, i7 3770K @ 4.5Ghz with a H100i cooling it, 2x MSI NVIDIA GTX 970, 16GB PC3-14400 Ballistix Tracer, Corsair AX850 power supply, 3x 2TB WD HDD's, HyperX 120GB SSD. Monitor: 1x 27" ASUS Swift PG278Q & 2 x illyama prolite 24"

Ryzen 3600 should be enough if you don't want to spend another $100+ for the 5600.

The intel one is also good, but the total upgrade probably cheaper with AMD (mobo can be cheap).

I totally underestimated the difference 😅 Especially doing a lot of Adobe Photoshop / Lightroom editing!

Any of these would be a huge upgrade, but i'd wait for the 5600X to be widely available and pair it with a decent B550 board. Or wait a little more for the 5600 non X to come out, which will be closer to 200-250$. It will come, but we do not yet know when. AMD can't just forget about the market under the 5600X's price range.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

If you are into streaming and not using nvenc, go for amd. Intel is not good for streaming at all.

If that waiting time can be 2-3 months, i would wait for 5600 (nonx).

AMD probably already have it ready by now, and they probably still waiting for the older 6 cores part to be absorbed as much as possible.
