3090 FE Loud

Hi everyone hope you guys can help me out! I was lucky enough to get a 3090 FE but since I have got it the card has been very loud contrary to reviews. I think that this may be an airflow issue so as a precaution I have ordered more fans however even with my current fan setup with all the fans on max rpm the situation only gets a bit better with the fans still hitting 2000RPM! This seems quite the opposite to what others have been reporting and what reviews seem to say :(

TIA

Just checked your case out...quick look tells me it has no front intake (barely any) - remove side panel and game for 10 minutes, if temps drop drastically you have an airflow issue.

73*C is not overheating, but the reference RTX 3090, at stock settings, try to maintain a temperature 70*C of under.

Unless you modify the temperature target / limit, it will do that by default.

What is your ambient temps in the house.  Right away though we do have an airflow problem, as there was a 7c drop based on this discussion.

Is your cooler front mounted?  Do you have top exhaust fans in place?

Not sure about the room temp although doesn't seem like its that much hotter than any other room in the house considering there is a pc in here. As for the fan config this is the other thing I have been wondering the X72 is in the top intaking air from the top and then the stock fan config for the fans that came with the case one 140mm exhaust at the back and two 140mm intakes at the front. Honestly this is probably an awful config because it was setup to favour the 3950X temps over the 980 Ti that I was hanging onto before this 3090 haha.

According to g00gle, Hampshire UK is 4*C outside right now.

So I'm assuming, house is heated, so ~25*C ?

You are blowing the warm air generated by the AIO BACK into the PC itself so...

What happens if you change the AIO fans to push out the top?

Otherwise, you can increase the RTX 3090's temperature limit is 80*C or something.

At 1700 RPM, the noise is ~47 dBA. That's not...really....quiet... (According to Gamers Nexus' chart)

Top intake fights thermal dynamics.  And while fans in this situation will be more powerful than TD Id implore you to try top exhaust.  It will force more cool air in from the front (negative pressure caused by more exhaust) and exhaust the HOT AIR out of the case - whereas current setup is asking for it to be respun around in the case repeatedly till the rear exhaust catches up.

Thank you both your help. As for the room temperature the house heating is often off or set to around 20 degrees as the house is modern so the heating is usually pretty extra and any way the radiator for this room is turned off. As for the fan config I was looking to change this when my new fans arrive on Friday. And as for running the card hotter honestly I would love to as it seems hell bent on 68C but the temp limit is already 83. And yeah as for the fans not being quiet... tell me about it! I really hope the fan config change works as I really dont want to have to change case as I like this one :(

For top mount I have fans visible over radiator visible all day long (push if radiator top mount) if running in single config like that (I run everything in push/pull...double the fan count)

EDIT - Im curious what your temps are when you do top exhaust instead of intake, can you report back with temps?

As promised Tristerin here are the results of changing my fans and changing the airflow for the fan configuration on the radiator... The difference is huge! At the same part of the map in RDR2 CPU temps are roughly the same which is awesome as was expecting it to get a bit worse. As for the GPU though temps with the stock fan curve was 64 degrees at full load! Although I found that a custom fan curve wasn't right for me as I found as others I have seen report which is that the top fan in the FE is louder than the bottom fan. So I left the bottom can curve alone and capped the top fan curve at just below the point where it became annoying in afterburner. And it is awesome the system is very quiet at temps on the GPU only increased slightly with fluctuations between 67 and 68 degrees :)

Also on a side note I look looking at people's PCs on their profiles here and I have to ask what is with all the Furys??? - Nothing against you, your choice, or the cards just genuinely curious :)

Anyway, thanks for your help,
