Newegg Paying with paypal question.

EmoChipmonk

Does newegg just take from your existing balance or does it just act as an extra layer of security?

Paypal will pay from your balance ONLY if you have the entire amount in your balance.  For example: if you buy a $50 item but only have 30 dollars sitting in your paylpal account, it will take the entire $50 from whatever card/checking account you have funding with your paypal account.

It must be true, I read it on the internet...

If you are worried about protection, sometimes the credit card company is better than PayPal.  AMEX, especially, is really good about protecting you if you are unsatisfied with your purchase.  Visa and Mastercard are not bad either.
