4670k with 2400 RAM

Hi there guys,

Planning on buying myself a Intel Core i5 4670k and 16GB of Kingston HyperX Beast 2400MHZ CL11 RAM memory.

Now my question is will the Memory be albe to run at 2400MHZ with atleast a 4.4GHZ OC on the CPU?

The motherboard is a Asus ROG Maximus VI Hero

Let me know :)

i hope u know you are paying a stupid premium for that board there is plenty of cheaper boards that will do the same thing also i dont know much about overclocking but i think it should if its stock 2400mhz dont quote me.

I dont see why not, your using an ROG board and so you can always overclock more.

It's may be a real challenge to get it there.

Why are you getting 2400 mhz ram and not a 4770k? If you're utilizing that ram, surely the extra CPU horsepower would benefit you?

It depends on the IMC on the CPU, you might not even be able to use 1866Mhz if you get a bad chip. Silicon lottery mate.

The reason for the ROG bord is the looks of it all and the features it had.

The 4770k is just not in my price range. What memory at a lower clockspeed would you recommend. It has to be 2 stick of 8 fyi. Thanks :)

I would get anything that is either 1600MHz or 1866MHz, CL9 and 1.5V if possible. Corsair, G-Skill, Patriot, Crucial, A-DATA, Kingston are all good manufacturers of RAM. You can't go wrong with either of them.

It seems that for around the same price I cannot get better RAM. It is CL11 to but if I upgrade in the future to a i7 when the time is there it might be benefitial. And kingston gives life long warrenty

Can we please stop telling people about their product choices unless they specifically ask or we know there to be a major technical issue.

You've literally done nothing to resolve this guys questions.

Personally, I'd save the money and go 1866 CL9. You'll gain a few percent gaming performance for losing a few percent general performance, and you'll save a butt-tonne of money that you could put towards a 4770K

RAM: 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RBG 3200MHz - GPU: MSI RTX 3080 GAMING X TRIO

Haswell is the one chip with a memory controller that can usually handle around 2400 and a overclock, but nothing is guaranteed. That said, is this for gaming?

As others have said 1.5v CL9 1600 to 1866 are all you need. If I was going to splurge and the price wasn't obscene, maybe a cl9 2133. Sometimes those are on sale.

Gskill, Kingston, Corsair are all good.

I haven't seen G.skill 1600 9-9-9-24 1.5v that won't do 1866 9-10-9-28-t1 at damn near the same voltage, or the same voltage with 10 seconds of changes in the bios. Good CL 10/cl9 2133 numbers? Maybe not and it might be a pain to get it tweaked. Most good 1866 1.5 can get ya there, but 1866 is damn near as fast unless the 2133 is cl9.

Non gaming? Ram bandwidth can be pretty sweet. Haswell can also handle the higher voltage of these ram kits. There is a lot of debate on other series cpu's with voltage. Intel officially said 1.65v is fine I believe for Haswell. I don't think (someone can correct me if I am wrong) they have ever said that for Ivy or Sandy.

CPU:24/7-4770k @ 4.5ghz/4.0 cache @ 1.22V override, 1.776 VCCIN. MB: Z87-G41 PC Mate. Cooling: Hyper 212 evo push/pull. Ram: Gskill Ares 1600 CL9 @ 2133 1.56v 10-12-10-31-T1 150 TRFC. For around €10 extra I can get this one: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-pro-series-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr3-dram-1866mhz-c9-memory-kit-cmy16gx3m2a1866c9

Is it worth the extra €10? Let me know :)
