I'm currently installing some MSI Mystic Light stuff in our "let's make it look cool because we can" PC.  Unfortunately, the motherboard has no RGB header.  Do you guys know of an RGB hub that can operate MSI Mystic Lighting without having an RGB header on the motherboard?  I've been looking around, but the compatibility on these things is kind of confusing, and MSI couldn't help (why doesn't MSI make a separate hub so people can easily use their products?).

We just happen to have it on hand, so I wanted to get it working if possible.  The MSI agent I talked to implied that there were options out there, but couldn't really say more because they can only recommend MSI products.  So I was hoping if they are out there, maybe someone knows which one could work. :)

Looking at the connectors, the pinout is +5V, D and GND.  I assume the +5V gets a constant voltage, so I wonder if there's some way to send a custom signal through the D pin using a Raspberry Pi or something...

Sorry, it's the F12A-3 fans.  I was just going through those again and noticed that they offer them with and without a control hub.  It would be great if I could just buy the hub, but can't seem to find it available anywhere.  Maybe I'll contact them again and see if they do offer it as a separate product.  Seems silly that they wouldn't have mentioned it when I contacted them before though.

Aaaaaaaaand, MSI's answer is that the controller isn't sold separately, and the only option is to buy a new motherboard or case with the compatible control system already built in.  So at this point, if I can't find a work-around to control these, I'll probably just end up not using them at all.  Oh well!

So, this is interesting!  I hooked up a 5V power source to the +5V and GND, and then quickly shorted the +5 to the D pin multiple times to simulate a pulsing signal, and managed to activate some lights!  I think I may actually be able to come up with some sort of work-around, so I'll just do some experimenting with that and see if I can make it work (maniacal laugh!!).

im trying to find what connector the fans have on it. any argb controller should work. i have a link in my sig of all the software controlled usb controllers. or you can buy an maul controller as-well or if you like to code and arduino

Thanks for the tips!  I already have a simple controller on the way, but I might have to check into those if it doesn't work.  Here are MSI's connectors:
