How much spaces does windows 10 use?

You need a 8gb (or higher) drive assuming you want to make a windows 10 bootable

Hello,

I have a 4GB flash drive and I need to know if that's enough for the windows installation tool. I know that windows itself is bigger than that but I thought the installation tool was small. I could be wrong though. Just wondering if I can use my 4GB thumb drive to install windows!

Any help is super appreciated,

Thanks!

You need 8GB, current install media is about 6GB.

I don't think it's enough.

A bootable USB for windows requires less than 5GB. I currently have one plugged into my rig because I redid windows not that long ago.

Microsoft also lists 5GB as the minimum media size.

So is that a question or what...  I made bootable USB drives for lots of people... but i only had a 32 GB stick.

Like I said, rather than waste time with searching for a bigger stick,  OP can try spending 10-15 minutes and install it over the network from another pc.

The 2nd video I posted is quite easy to follow and simple.

In case of a future error, very likely with win 10, ya better keep that USB nearby after installation.

USB 3 flash drive should make the installation process faster. Even 32GB capacity are cheap nowadays...

I recently bought USB 3.1 "Jewel J50" and can recommend it if you find that in your local stores.

Looks like that's an old version (and the article is from 2018). 20H2 gained almost 1GB from 2004 to reach about 5.8GB.

I didn't notice the link date but the screen shot of the drive is still valid as that is 20H2. I made that bootable USB only a week or two ago.
