New Network Closet Help

So we are clearing out clearing out a closet that used to have our furnace in it and want to turn it into a networking closet. We know how to wire up the house and such we just need to know what would be some good products to put in there. We were looking to use a cabinet rack style networking solution. Also let me know if there is anything I would need to do the whole thing. Thanks.

You should be looking at it from the perspective of what do you need, rather than asking what you can get and then deciding if you need it or how to use it. The basics would be a modem, router, switch, a power distribution unit will help, a UPS if you want/need one, and a server/servers if you want to host anything.

Firstly you need a budget in mind. At least something ball park. As stated above what are you planning on doing? Are you running servers? Do you have electrical outlets in the location? Do you have ventilation in the closet? Servers can get warm. Do you know how you're going to wire your home? Have you decided the locations for the drops and how many wires you're running to each drop?

Id recommend figuring out what you're going to want to do. Also think of what you may want in the future. Because with budget limits, you might not be able to do it all in one go.
