Do I have a bottleneck?

Good evening everyone, it’s my first post here :). I need help. I’m a streamer on twitch, I upgraded my pc throughout a year and a half to now that I have an i9 9900k 24GB of RAM Seasonic focus 750 80+ platinum PSU and an RTX 2070 gaming x twin frozr 8gb. I recently purchased Watch Dogs Legion. I was noticing my cpu usage was low but gpu would spike to 100 on any setting. I monitor it with HWMonitor and supposedly I have high gpu usage. But my temps are fine. No problem there. But I started doing research and they say it’s an option that I’m bottlenecking. Idk how to find out or what to do. I invested a lot of money in this rig cause I’m working to do twitch long term.

sorry for the long message.
any help will be appreciated and helpful:)

if your GPU can't keep up, you do need an upgrade. Do you play at 1440p 144Hz?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I agree, but it's worth noting that Watch Dogs: Legion is a pretty terribly optimized game, and so it shouldn't necessarily be used as a test to tell if you should upgrade.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Watchdogs Legion saps everything from all CPU's and drops GPU usage on all GPU's that are around 2070 or higher level.

I play at 1080p. If I have to upgrade, what can I upgrade to. 3080 it’s hard to buy so is 3070 :/

AMD RX 6800 or RX 6800 XT might be a good pick, once the benchmarks come out it might have some really good watch dogs performance.

Is the RX 6800 better than the 30 series ?

The RX 6800 is poised to be a 3070 competitor, $80 more and AMD claims it is better. AMD says the 6800 XT is about the same as the 3080, supposed to cost like $50 less or something. Then there's the 6900 XT, meant to compete with the 3090 except like $500 cheaper (close to 1000 USD) but we'll see where that ends up.

Nvidia cards are super popular, AMD cards have a chance to get sold out less quickly, although with how popular this release is, might be also hard to get. November 18th is when they are released, I hope you can get your hands on one.

I would hold off of buying a Radeon straight away, they are notorious for driver problems but will generally have stability patches later.

then this may be it. while i don't know to much about bottlenecks, i am fairly certain that i have seen people confirm that unusual ram configs can be a bottle neck

If I understand memory controllers correctly (which could be totally wrong) 3 sticks will usually fall back to single channel, so it might be worth taking out the odd stick to get dual channel.

oh ok or do i just buy a set of 2 new sticks? if thats not the problem, do i have to stop streaming and playing games until i ressolve the bottle neck? or can i just lower the settings on the games and still be able to stream ? itll suck to have to stop streaming and gaming :/

no.

all i said was to get your ram amount to a sorta "normal" amount like 8, 16, 32, etc

once that is done, try running your games again
