Thoughts On New Build?

Areyn13

Budget (including currency): $3200 AUD (or lower)

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly gaming, multitasking and light video editing

Other details So I will be upgrading from a 4590, 1070 & 16gb DDR3 ram system to a Zen 3 3070 build. I've already purchased and received my 3070, but still plan on getting either a Zen 3 5800x or 5900x, opting out of the 5600x as an option as i want something that's a little more future focused as games (possibly) may utilize more than 4-6 cores in the future. Here are the parts list so far, keeping in mind my currency/location:

NOTE: Reason I'm upgrading my case is because i fear that my S340 Elite may pose possible thermal problems? compared to a more airflow design like tha P500a has. Also my power supply is a 5 year old Antec HCG 620m that's showing audible fan noise (more than an air being pushed type of sound) and was looking at the RM series as a possible quieter replacement

Ryzen 5800x | Asus ROG STRIX B550-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16gb | ASUS TUF GAMING OC RTX 3070 Ti | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1tb | Corsair RM750x

sonds liike a good plan. hopefully there won't be big stock problems with the 5000 series.

I'm not sure how things are in other parts of the world, but here in australia one of our biggest retailers claim that both the 5600x and 5800x have "plenty of stock available at launch" with the 5900x and 5950x to be in stock next week (I'm assuming all cpu's will be in stock just fine at launch in the US) it also appears that there will be regular shipments coming in the coming weeks too, so i think stock (fingers crossed) looks much better than the 30 series launch.

Is there a reason you're spending that much money on a motherboard and not going x570?

Also is there a reason you're not going pcie gen 4 for your NVMe drive? Aside from the fact that the performance gains are not noticeable for most people (getting that in before any comments) Samsung do a 980 PRO now that is 250, 500 or 1tb looks like budget isn't really a thing for you so just thought I'd mention that.

DISPLAYS: LG 27UL500 IPS 4k60hz + HDR and LG 27GL650F IPS 1080p 144hz + HDR

LAPTOP: Lenovo Legion 5 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H GPU: RTX 3070 8GB RAM: 16GB 3200MHz (2x8GB DDR4) STORAGE: 1TB Crucial P5 NVMe SSD + 2TB Samsung 970 evo plus NVMe SSD DISPLAY: 1080p 165hz IPS OS: Windows 10 Pro x64

Well I just want to make sure I have a high quality b550 board that can handle the new Zen 3 cpu's at a high clock speed and the x570 boards of similar quality are $100-$120 more here (when comparing Asus Strix, MSI Tomahawk/Gaming Plus etc) I'm also not entirely sure if what I'm missing out on by not going x570 is particularly worth it? or maybe I'm wrong and for NVMe I'd ideally want 1tb minimum as game install sizes continue rising, the 980 is around $100 more than the 970 and again, I'm not sure if that boost in read/write speeds is worth the price premium if I'm not planning on transfering huge files on a day to day basis

Ah so budget is a thing for you then?

Its just with you spending over $3k already, I thought another couple hundred or so wouldn't hurt you to get the very latest and greatest.

There is no reason to go X570 unless for some reason you need the extra pcie 4.0 M.2 slot.
