Is 8GB RAM enough for my use case?

VicRik

Hi guys and girls,

I've recently been looking at getting a new laptop and one has caught my eye. It has a Ryzen 4600H and a GTX 1650. I want to do some gaming on it (I know what to expect from this GPU) but I was wondering whether 8 Gigs is enough for this. It has only 2 RAM slots which are both filled, this does mean it runs dual channel but also that upgrading is a little tougher. Do you guys think it's enough or should I wait for an option with which allows easy access to 16 GB to become available within my budget?

If you need anymore info to be able to give a response I am more than happy to supply it!

Thanks for the help in advance!

PS: This is the link to the laptop. It's on a Dutch site so I can imagine you find the link a bit sketchy, but it is reputable store. Could be interesting to see the specs in detail though!: https://www.alternate.nl/HP/Pavilion-Gaming-15-ec1020nd-(1N3L0EA)-15-6-inch-laptop/html/product/1634644

in most cases 8gb's of ram is actually enough for gaming but if you want to do more technical things then you should get 16 or 32 gb's of ram. personally i have 8gb with a ryzen 3 3200g, 1660 oc and a single stick of 8gb ram. this is able to run most games fine but in more bulky games like warzone and other triple A titles it might struggle. the dual channel will help you but the refresh rate of the ram might be a variable.

The Ryzen 4600H is a decent CPU.

The GTX 1650 is by no means a power-house GPU, but should suffice for ~Medium quality graphics gaming.

The graphics card would be the game changer...and it something you cannot swap out / replace.

8GB should be okay for now, but you can always upgrade it.

The computer comes with 4GB X 2 of RAM, filling up the 2x RAM slots.

You can always replace it with 16GB (8GB X 2) yourself -- installing / replacing RAM, SSD/HDD should not void warranty, and should have a removable cover for that.

For the 699 price, though, it seems reasonable..?
